Connections Co-op Class Descriptions & Schedule- 2026/27

Educational themes for 2026/2027

We are pleased to announce our themes for the 2026/2027 School Year! They are: Spy School, Geography & Map Skills, Architecture, and Astronomy. We also have 4 additional “Special Days” scheduled throughout the year, typically at the end of each theme. These days are designed to be fun and collaborative, allowing students in all of the small groups to work together. Special Days for this year include: Escape Room activities (after Spy School), Christmas Market & Party with Holidays Around the World activities (after Geography), a Building Challenge Day (after Architecture), and our annual End-of-Year celebration with Field Day.

What is Spy School? It’s an action-packed, hands-on opportunity to learn about cryptology, surveillance, and forensics using math, science, logic, and history! Students will work together to create and crack codes, build gadgets, navigate obstacle courses, and more while learning from the spies that came before them.

Pre-K

Our pre-school aged students will explore a variety of topics through songs, movement, quality text, hands-on activities, and crafts, just like their siblings, and will be so excited to share what they’ve learned. All of this learning will accompany natural opportunities for social and emotional development, early literacy and math, problem solving, creativity, and motor skills.

Elementary Age Groups

Elementary students will explore these educational themes through rich text and hands-on experiences, resulting in a deeper understanding of the subject matter and problem-solving, while enjoying cooperative team-building activities. Opportunities will be available for book club discussions and presentations throughout the year.

Middle & High School Age Groups

Middle and high school students will explore the same core themes through a project-based learning approach. They’ll tackle real-world challenges, conduct research, collaborate on projects, and present their work in varied formats (models, digital presentations, reports, prototypes, etc.). This approach builds critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills in a supportive, small group setting.

This class is designed to explore topics students may not get to study in core subjects. It encourages creativity and critical thinking while keeping learning fun and collaborative. It can be counted toward high school credit (with parent oversight and portfolio documentation) for students seeking elective credits.

Art

Art classes will emphasize creative individual expression through the use of a variety of drawing, painting, sculpting, and printmaking media. The elements of art, principles of design, and aesthetic awareness will be introduced through lessons on art history, cultural traditions, and connections to other disciplines.
