Explorers Club

2026-2027 School Year

Explorers Club is a Charlotte Mason-style nature study program designed to engage families in hands-on learning about the world around them. Meeting once a month, the club provides opportunities for participants of all ages (pre-school to high school) to explore, learn, and connect with nature while gaining valuable skills for appreciating the natural world and understanding the importance of environmental conservation.

Each month’s topic will be introduced with a short group lesson, followed by a nature walk, providing a chance to observe local ecosystems and wildlife. Students can document their observations through nature journaling, deepening their understanding and connection to the environment. Parents should expect to assist their own children during the nature walk and journaling.

We may also incorporate visits to local nature centers for field-trip style lessons.

NATURE NUGGETS

During the topic introduction time, students aged 4 and younger will meet with Ms. Ashley for a lesson on the same topic, created specifically with PreK abilities in mind. They will then rejoin their older siblings and parents for the nature walk and journaling time.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDY

Throughout the year, we partner with families from our Support Group to go on hikes at various local parks, offering different environments to explore. By visiting a variety of locations, students will discover the diverse ecosystems that exist in our community.

Who Can Join?

Explorers Club is open to co-op families first, then we may open up spots to support group families if there is space.

“We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things.”
